Self-Care Campaign

Self Care Week was the national annual campaign to raise awareness of how people can take care of their own health whether it is to prevent disease or illness, understand how to look after minor ailments or how to manage long-term conditions. Although self-care week has passed, we will leave the following useful information below to help patients manage their ailments where possible.

What does Self-Care do?

There are many benefits of self-care for people who live with a long-term condition, illness or disability, as well as carers. They can suffer less pain, anxiety, depression and fatigue, have a better quality of life, be more active and independent and live longer.

Did you know you can visit the pharmacist for these symptoms:

  •  low back pain

  • fever in children
  • constipation
  • headache
  • coughs in adults
  • ache (spots)
  • sprains and strains

Visiting the pharmacist for minor conditions such as these can save GP time for more serious illnesses.
